Broken to Shine

Hirut’s story is one of many trials, triumphs, love, and faith, from her upbringing in Ethiopia to her life-changing experiences in America.

Her determination and courage enabled her to assimilate into her new world after moving to America, a place she had imagined to be the land of milk and honey. In pursuit of building a positive image for herself, Hirut stays true to her faith, culture, and life experiences.

While encountering many challenges, Hirut finds the ultimate strength to face them through her faith in God and family love. As a result of reading her story, Hirut Thompson hopes other women will feel empowered to find their strength within themselves, turn to Christ, and allow their light to shine.
